YIPPEE's Open Educational Resources1/8/2024 Partners are thrilled to announce that YIPPEE’s Open Educational Resources is now available!
YIPPEE’s Open Educational Resources (OER) has the goal to provide a space where youth workers, intercultural educators, trainers and professionals that work with migrants and asylum seekers can use the internet to introduce their work in a digital way. The OER also enables these professionals to share tools around multicultural communities and encourages them to collaborate towards problem-solving. The OER will bring together the results of YIPPEE initiative, including a collection of storytelling (IO1), the Youth Inclusion Scheme (IO2), interactive tools (IO3), Guidelines on the cross-sectorial cooperation (IO4) and the Protocol for Certification of Competencies (IO5). We invite you to navigate with us and to try YIPPEE’s videos, PowerPoint presentations, modules, and much more! YIPPEE’s Multiplier Event in Portugal12/18/2023 Aproximar, the Portuguese partner of YIPPEE, promoted a Multiplier Event on the 6th of December, in Lisbon. During the afternoon, 18 participants met at the headquarters of the organization. More specifically, the group was made of YIPPEE’s partners and professionals from Portuguese organizations that work with migrants and refugees. The event was divided into 2 panels. In the first one, the Partnership had the opportunity to present the resources produced by the project and explain their practical purpose to attendees. For the second panel, Aproximar invited speakers from the Portuguese Council for Refugees and Global Diáspora to share their experiences and perspectives regarding the main challenges faced by migrant youth in Portugal, and what must be done by organizations to address these issues. Because participants had diverse personal and professional backgrounds, different topics related to the social inclusion of young migrants were brought up during the discussion: employment, housing, language, access to higher education, etc. The event turned out to be a moment for stakeholders to reflect together on the particular vulnerabilities of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in each country, and to learn from each other on how to promote non-discrimination and inclusion.

YIPPEE's Transnational Project Meeting 412/18/2023 On the 6th and 7th December, in the morning time, representatives from Aproximar, IFALL, Meridaunia, Gehim-der, Redial and VABCKJS-EU got together in Lisbon, Portugal, for the Final TPM of the YIPPEE initiative. Since the partnership has the goal to make sure that youth workers and professionals that work with young migrants, refugees and asylum seekers have access to the resources created by YIPPEE, some recommendations regarding Communication and Dissemination were also addressed in the meeting. The strategy is to use different social media channels to increase the reach of these resources and to share useful information in order to promote the use of the learning tools and materials. In addition, the Final TPM was an important moment for the Consortium to structure the next steps of project management to ensure an articulated closure of YIPPEE, as the initiative is coming to an end.

YIPPEE’s partners believe that the creation of a social multicultural environment, that values and includes everyone regardless of their background, is a fundamental aspect to consider when involving and including young Europeans and migrants in events. It is also important for youth workers to adopt inclusive values, beliefs and emotional competencies to guide their approach when facilitating workshops.
Based on these ideas, the project developed a practical handbook, with principles, approaches and steps for stakeholders and youth workers to facilitate quality sustainable events that include young Europeans, young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. The Youth Inclusion Scheme also includes case studies based on the workshops that all six partners promoted in their countries, namely Austria, Sweden, Ireland, Turkey, Italy and Portugal. The workshops’ goals were to encourage intercultural groups of young people to become examples of positive change in their local communities, to foster intercultural and multilingual competencies and to support social integration. A variety of topics, such as cultural evenings, food sharing, language exchanges, life experiences sharing, storytelling, sports and active citizenship, was covered in these events.

Considering the main objective of IO2, YIPPEE’s partners implemented 6 national workshops in the last months of 2022 with young people: migrants and youngsters from the host communities. The workshops intended to promote an open dialogue about the main milestones of young people, including migratory journeys of some young people towards Europe, focusing on expectations, first impressions of the EU hosting country, and on social inclusion issues faced by the participants. Using different methods from Storytelling methodology, partners collected information on individual experiences of young immigrants who came to the EU, with particular attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the inclusion process.
